Salah satu poin dari Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi yang harus dicapai adalah pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat merupakan bentuk implementasi ilmu pengetahuan atau penerapan teknologi yang dimiliki oleh suatu civitas akademika kepada masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk memajukan kesejahteraan masyarakat dan mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa.<\/p>\n<p>Sebagai salah satu penyelenggara pendidikan, pengajaran, dan penelitian di Universitas Negeri Malang, Jurusan Biologi FMIPA juga berperan aktif dalam memberdayakan potensi yang dimiliki masyarakat. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, Jurusan Biologi mengadakan pelatihan batik jumput di Kelurahan Tunjung Sekar, Malang. Kegiatan ini terselenggara selama satu bulan dengan dua kali pertemuan yang terdiri dari pelatihan dan monitoring.
